What to do
Experiences
The Little Rann is unlike anywhere else in India. Here's how to make the most of it.
The Rann is the experience
Most people come to Little Rann for the wildlife — and they're right to. But the Rann offers much more than a single safari. Salt farms, migratory birds, traditional villages, extraordinary light at dawn and dusk — every day here is different, and every visit reveals something new. We'll help you plan your time so you don't miss what matters most.
Little Rann Jeep Safari
A guided jeep safari into the heart of the Little Rann is the centrepiece of any visit. Your guide will take you deep into the salt desert in search of wild asses, wolves, desert foxes, blackbucks and a remarkable variety of birds. The landscape itself — vast, flat and endlessly open — is an experience in its own right.
- Duration: 3–4 hours
- Best time: Early morning or late afternoon
- Included: Guide, jeep, entry permits
Wild Ass Sanctuary
The Indian wild ass — locally known as the ghudkhur — is found almost nowhere else on earth. The Little Rann is their last stronghold, and watching a herd move across the salt flats is one of the most memorable wildlife encounters in India. We arrange sanctuary permits and guide you to the best viewing areas.
- Duration: Half day or full day
- Best time: October to March

Birdwatching
The Little Rann and its surroundings are home to over 200 species of birds. Flamingos gather in their thousands at the seasonal wetlands. Demoiselle cranes, pelicans, harriers, eagles and a host of waders make this one of India's premier birdwatching destinations. Our guides know exactly where to look.

The salt farms of the Little Rann are worked by the Agaria community, who have harvested salt here for generations. Sunrise & Sunset
The light in the Rann at golden hour is extraordinary. The flat, reflective salt surface catches the colours of the sky in a way that is almost impossible to describe.
